99th Reading Scouts win the District Camping Competition Again

99th Reading Scouts win the District Camping Competition for the second year

During the weekend of 3rd-4th May 2014 six 99th Reading Scouts represented the troop in the annual District Camping Competition. This year the competition was held at the Dorneywood Scout Campsite.

The weather was perfect for camping. Overall the standard of camping by all the troops was of a very high standard. The competition involved camping skills, pioneering and also cooking skills.

Points were awarded throughout the weekend. The pioneering required the scouts to build a ballista from broom handles; the cooking element was to prepare and cook welsh cakes. The final challenge involved teddy bears and an aerial runway !!!

Once all the scores were counted 99th Reading were declared the winners, achieving 94 points out of a maximum of 120 marks.
